3 Reasons Why You Should Wax Your Car!

In a previous article, we talked about the importance of regularly washing your car, now we’re going to talk about part 2, waxing your car. Waxing a car involves applying a thin coat of wax to your car’s paint, allowing it to slightly harden, and then buffing it off with a towel or polisher. While it may appear that you’ve removed all the wax from your vehicle’s paint, a thin protective coat is left behind. Although not visible to the naked eye this protective coat has numerous benefits for your car’s paint.

1. Protection from the sun

When you go out in the sun you put sun screen on, right?   Your car is no exception, think of wax as sun screen for your car. The thin protective coat of wax left on your car’s paint forms a barrier that keeps the sun’s rays from harming it. By maintaining a coat of wax on your car’s paint it will prevent fading, discoloring, and oxidation which are common effects of sun damage.

2. Give your car a high gloss finish

A coat of wax will also give your car a mirror like finish and make it shine. We like to call this the showroom shine. Wax on a molecular level polishes the clear coat of your car and brings out the car’s color and shine.

3.Avoid water spots

Ever notice how it always seems to rain right after you wash your car? This wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t leave your car covered in water spots. When it rains, water collects on your car’s paint and as it begins to evaporate, dirt and contaminates that were in the water are left behind. With a coat of wax on your car, water will “bead up” and roll off your car. This results in less water remaining on your car’s paint and less water means less contaminates and dirt left behind.

There are many types of wax on the market including paste wax, liquid waxes, and spray waxes. To provide the best protection, showroom shine, and water beading we recommend applying a coat of Daily Defense Wax each month. In between each wax application, Active Wax spray wax should be used each time you wash your car.
